Exclamation Spongy Front Brake

I have a 02 SV650S. I was on the freeway today and had to brake hard. Granted. I am a new rider and have only been on the roads about 2 weeks. I jammed on both brakes and locked up the back brake.

I think I underused the front brake because it feels so spongy. It is hard to feel the optimal point on it because there is a small difference between braking light and braking hard.

Does anyone else have this problem? Anys suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

All bikes will break dif. two things, if there is any air in your line, they will act spongy, try this, and i promise it works great, when you park your bike, and are not going to ride it for 12 to 24 hrs, use tape, velcro, ziptie, or anything to pull the brake lever in as far as you can, let it set overnight, this trick works very well.

Second, braided steel front brake lines, will also give a more positive feel to the front brakes

But try the other trick first, i bet you it helps.

Does sound like you have a bubble of air in your brakes lines. It can happen any time even with braided SS lines or my preference being ones of Kevlar.

So you will have to bleed the f/brake lines or have a shop do it.

I might try it rather then bleeding out the two lines. Fact is I WILL try it.
