What happened here?

First off, hiiii!!! to the people I haven't talked to in a while,

second, - i've seen this video before, but - after my usual daily collegehumor browsing it topped the video list again, and - i'll admit, the first SEVERAL times i watched this video, i thought he hit that little curb, and then went for his little ride but - his front wheel just COMES OFF as he's braking.. what the fudge?

That is very peculiar. I would like to know what happened myself. That's not right. It can't be.

Camera wasn't covering the ground. Why in the hell was he dragging his foot? And wtf would make the wheel come off like that? Perplexing indeed.

He was dragging his foot because he already knew he had a problem. Many older bikes had caps with two bolts holding them on that held the front wheel in place. Maybe they were not tightened and lost the bolts or maybe were broken from overtightening. It seems to come out of the left leg first. The front wheel definitely detaches, rolling under and pitching the bike.

It also seems that he is in some sort of race. Next time, to some extent, he might want to check the bike over. Wonder what pressure he was running in the tires?
