Question Favorite 1000

I was just wondering what ever ones choice for favorite 1000cc sportbike is. I am looking to get a new bike next spring and I am not sure what bike to buy. I think I may want a honda but damn they are expensive. R1 seems to be pretty popular other places but I am not sure. I don't want to buy a kawasaki.

I bought a Honda VTR1000, not exactly a supersport but still a great bike (and it's a Honda). You can also pick up a used or even new for pretty reasonable. Mine new out the door was 9500.

Not exactly a 1000cc either, but own & ride a '00 Honda 929 & '03 Honda 954 I purchased in Feb of '05. Lovely bikes to ride even some distance & handle like a dream plus lots of torque.

Basically I go out almost daily & ride for 4 to 8 hrs a day on the hwys here in the Cdn rockes yet when back home I am not tired & enjoyed the ride.

Had three large RVs holding up a line-up of some 8 cages. I knew this piece of road being 100kph--60mph & took this break in passing in 4th to shift into 5th & when buy all & back into the same lane I was clocking 200kph--125mph in 5th cog Then I eased down to 6th gear & lower revs to where I was at an easy pace of 150kph--95mph & not even close to coming-on-pipe revs. Oh yes this was on the 929.

Hi Slick1537-

Yes, the 929 is in the Honda CBR family of motorcycles. The lineage for that model went 900, 929, 954, and is currently the Honda CBR 1000RR.

Please enjoy your search for a new bike and keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up!

05' there is only one 1000, the gixxer!

Now 06' will be another story, we shall see. But if your buying and 05' and want the best, the gixxer is untouchable for 05'!

Im all about yamaha. The R1 is easly the best looking 1000. Thats first pick for me. I like the gixxer too but the looks really take some getting used to. Im not a big fan of the center up underseat exaust system, so its nice that kawi's and suzuki's kept the sidepipe.

Guess I should change my name, not a poser anymore.

Yes slick just a Blue Jays pointed out the CBR 900, 929, 954 & now 1000 are of the same ONLY some have some pretty dramatic changes though all four pot fuel injected hot trotting irons.

Believe the 900 was on the market in '95 & then the 929 with dramatic changes bar both were four pot bikes in '00 The 954 of '02-;03 is pretty close to older brother 929 & same with the 1000 of '04 & '05.
