I just painted my frame black on my YZF. Lots of masking involved (swingarm was the bitch). Only recommenation. Use a high temp engine enamal over a self etching primer.

how does it look? I don't have to really worry about masking of my bike is striped down to pieces.

I believe the frame on my RC is powder coated black. At least it appears to be. When I restored my wife's wrecked '98 YZF, I painted the frame with Dupont Acrylic Enamel. It was Yamaha blue but would have looked nice in black. Had the frame and swingarm sandblasted, then primered, then painted with about 12000 coats. It may have only been 8-10 coats but who's counting.

I think my ZR is painted black. As it is steel and not aluminum I wouldn't go the black chrome route, though I am sure it looks neat and lasts as well.

Looks good, except where I scratched the frame with my trailer fender (long story). Its a semi-gloss black.
