Rider Killed In Police Chase

http://www.theindychannel.com/news/3029267/detail.html

It would be interesting to find out exactly what caused the wreck, but any way you cut it this is a risk you take when running from the police. While I don't think anyone deserves to die, I certainly don't feel sorry for this asshole.

Okay, so he was riding with a suspended license that had NO motorcycle endorsement on it, WITH a passenger, and rather than pulling over and geting a citation or arrested, he risked his life (which he lost), the life of his passenger and that of anybody who got in the way?

I am sorry his family is without him, but I am pissed that once again personal accountability is tossed out the window.

Why is it ALWAYS someone elses' fault?

Being Indiana, I will almost guarantee he had no helmet on. If that's the case, I wonder if he died from head trauma....

The lawsuit says the chase ended when Myers either struck the motorcycle occupied by Hilbert and Philebaum or was in such close proximity to the motorcycle that Myers caused Brandon to lose control and crash.

Jay County and state police investigators found no evidence to support that claim.
o.k. now let me get this straight. a full investigation was made by both Jay County (i assume Sherrifs Dept.) and Indiana State Police and there was NO EVIDENCE indicating fault by law enforcement officials? i don't buy it. everybody knows that its ALWAYS the cops fault.

looks like a Darwin candidate.

Who would run with a passanger? I mean, it's 1 thing to have no regard for your own life, but making that decision for someone else as well just makes me sick.

Is your life so empty that you honestly can't think of a better way to spend these moments? Or are you so impressed with authority that you give respect and credence to all who claim it? Do you read everything you're supposed to read? Do you think everything you're supposed to think? Buy what you're told you should want? Get out of your apartment. Meet a member of the opposite sex. Stop the excessive shopping and masturbation. Quit your job. Start a fight. Prove you're alive. If you don't claim your humanity you will become a statistic. You have been warned...... Tyler

sounds like another who cares only about himself and could give two hoots about anybody including his passenger. It just makes us all look bad. Hold on, gotta go, my insurance guy is calling to tell me the rates are going up. wonder why.

lots of stupid people out there. Why they do what they do is beyond me but people like this make us all look bad. But I guess that will always happen. No matter what there will be at least one person that will make a group look bad.

Certain things are open and shut.
For example:

1. It's stupid to run from the cops
2. It's more stupid to run with a passenger
3. It's even more stupid to run at speeds that can kill you and your passenger.

Other things are unknown

1. Did the officer cause the crash? Doubtful. More than likely, the guy crashed on his own because he couldn't take the curve at the speed he was going.
2. What gear was he wearing? At those speeds, it may not matter, but every little bit helps.
3. What type of motorcycle was he on? I'm sure all of us sportbikers will somehow suffer no matter what type of bike he was on.
4. What's the worst that could have happened if he had pulled over and got a few tickets? No matter how bad (even a night in jail), it isn't worth the cost of human life.
5. Will the family sue the bike manufacturer? I'm sure they'll find a way to blame the machine because, as we all know, it's easier to blame an inanimate object than to take responsibility for one's actions.

Sorry his family has to suffer, but unless they have some proof that the cop rammed the bike off the road (like some paint from the bike on the car's bumper), they're gonna lose this one.

UNLESS.......there is some county law that says "We don't chase at high speeds unless we know the suspect is wanted for a felony........" or something like that.
