Michelin Race 3. Any good?

Anybody help with experience or knowledge of Michelin race 3 tires? I have a chance to get two brand new at a good price but have zero knowledge or experience with them. My primary interest would be to use them for track days but would also like to know if I did use them on the street, do they have adequate rain capability? I am used to Dunlop 207's for comparison purposes.

dad,

the thing i'd worry about with the race 3's is that they have probably been on the shelf a long time (i'm guessing a couple of years at least). i think michelin dropped them when the race pilots came out.

i did my first track day on race 1's (back then the race 1 would be like the 207 gp and the race 3 would be the 208 gp). i thought they were good tires. but i was a lot slower then.

i think the race 3's had the same thread pattern as the race 1's (tx15/25's), which wasn't a bad rain tire (think better in the rain than a 207 zr, and they aren't bad at all).
