Tire Blueing

Hello,

I was wondering why tires turn blue at the edges. I had a good scrubbing in session a few weeks ago and then I wasnt able to ride for awhile. When I looked at the bike last week I noticed that the tires were turning blue at the edges.

Does this have something to do with the bike sitting for a few weeks of not riding?

They will do that if they sit for awhile. I assume it is just the chemicals reacting with the air. It will scrub off next time you take it out. The "race" compound tires seem to blue alot quicker than street compounds.

Hello,

Thanks for the info but I took care of the problem this past Sunday. No more blue.

It is called "out-gassing", and as you noted the problem takes care of itself.
