I've been riding motorcycles for 15 years. Most of my bikes have been cruisers. Loud pipes, go slow, sit upright. You know, those guys you usually pass.
I recently bought a Yamaha R6 and have a newbie question. To most of you this is probably out of the "big ol' bag of duh"
When racing / riding hard, what is the benefit of hanging off the side of the bike and dragging a knee in a fast corner ?
I obviously recognize the "cool" factor, but that isn't the reason I know. I watch the races on ESPN etc, and see the riders consistently shift to hang off the side of the bike as they enter a corner. Why? What is the benefit? How does this weight distribution improve cornering?
I hope this isn't too simple of a question. Help a poor noob.
