Question 2002 R6 or F4i ?

I've narrowed my choices down to two bikes that I plan on getting around October 2001. The things I'm looking for most are easiest to handle and ride, comfort, and performance, in that order. I understand that the R6 is a more radical 600 bike, and also that the F4i is easier to handle. What are you guys thoughts about these two bikes? I also would like to get a bike with blue on it but honda for 2002 will only have black/red yellow/black, red/silver. Is the R6 really that radical? I mean it's a 600cc just like the F4i. What should be my deciding factor?

I have a 2001 F4i and my bro has a 2000 R6. I've ridden' both and would have to say the F4i wins in everything except speed. Not that the F4i is slow, you can barely tell the difference. But the R6 has a bit more punch and wails like banshee.

in answer to your question if its that much more radical.. it really depends on how experianced a rider you are. It could be from unoticed for the majority of riders to a world of differce on a track. Bear in mind, the F4i is a rocket and can hadle its own.

One thing has to be remembered... in the world of sportbikes, there are 4-6 contenders in every class of bike.. they are al pretty close give or take, but one has to be fastest, one has to be best handling, one has to be easiest to ride and one has to be most comfortable.

Since some are contradicting features, you have to see whats important to you... given what you said it has to be the F4i..

If you wanna throw in sex appeal, WHOA! those Yamahas are sexy!!!

I just got the new issue of Motor Cyclist mag. In there they discuss the pro's and con's of the all the big 4 600cc. (F4i, GXSR, 6R, and R6). So go to the book store and read it. You will find very good information about the suspension, ergos, tires, speed, hp, engine, handling, well you name it. Just to give you some info. that is on it:

Performance
1/4 mile

F4i: [email protected] 6R: [email protected]

Gixxer600: [email protected] R6: [email protected]

Horsepower / Torque

F4i: [email protected],500 rpm / [email protected],250rpm

6R: [email protected],500 rpm / [email protected],250rpm

Gixxer: [email protected],000 rpm / [email protected],750rpm

R6: [email protected],500 rpm / [email protected],000rpm

The rank is as follows:

1) R6 (slightly better than F4i)
2) F4i (2nd due 2 the seat & clutch cable slightly blocking odometer / most user friendly)
3) GSX-R600 (track oriented)
4) ZX-6R (most comfortable)

Hope this is helpful.

Check out the latest issue of Motor Cyclist Magazine (August)
and decide for yourself... Based on their tests, I would buy an R-6 without a doubt, If i were into that sort of thing (600's).....

You know what? I almost baught the Gixxer 01 because what it said on the magz. However, I went to the dealer and sat on it, and then I sat on the Kawi, R6, and F4i and felt more comfortable than the Gixxer. Then I sat down on the other one going back and foward like 20 min. I ended up likeing the R6 and the F4i, and I couldn't make up my mind. So, now I am going to wait till 02 are out and see if the R6 come FI. If it doesn't then I am getting the 01 white/red F4i.

Cool Its a toss up

Yeah, it is definiteley a tough choice, I like em both. The thing that's going to decide it for me is comfort. I sat on a Gixxer and it is very uncomfortable for me. I'm going to wait and see what the 2002 models are like first, then I will take it from there. Also whatever dealership gives me the best deal.

Yeap that is true too, ChrisDogg. I found a place in LA where I can get the 01 for $8000 red/white model out the door. I am going to wait for the 02. I talk to some sales guy from the dealer, and he told me if the 02 is the same price as the 01 he will give me the white/red bike for $7600 out the door Only if he has some on stock. So he better have some. This is the # of the dealer in LA is you want it 626-974-6600.

Thumbs up Killer Deal

7600? Killer deal for that rocket. I would take that deal myself also. If there aren't major changes on the 02 bikes, I may opt for a 01 bike and save me some payments.

I don't think the F4i is going to be changed at all. For what I know from the dealer is that there is going to be new colors...so far Yellow/Black. However, I really want to know what the R6 changes are going to be though.
