is this a good price for 600R ninja?

i decided to get a used cheap bike to ride till i get my M2 also keep the insurance down, came across this listing in autotrader
Kawasaki ninja 600 1985
Fresh new paint, new battery, good running condition, ready for summer two helmets included. Asking $2800. o.b.ocdn which is $1900US

is it a good deal? a brand new ninja 500 is like $8000-9000, is he asking too much or bike values decrease very slow?

For comparison, I paid about $3000 USD for an 88 Ninja 600R back in 91'. I can't tell you much without seeing the bike, but the mention of a paint job always makes me suspicious, especially when painted just before selling.

Not to pick on your taste, but I just checked out the picture. Now I know why he is selling it .

Don't try to keep up with my life, you'll only get hurt.

I would base this decision on mileage & condition. Early model 600 Ninjas were known for valve problems, and exhaust rot. Especially up there in the land of July, August, and Winter!
New paint jobs make me suspicious, too. If you're serious, might be worth a little money for a lookover by a professional.

I agree, a crash is usually a good excuse for a new paint job...
