What's a good used sport bike for around $4000?

I'm looking into getting a sport bike but can't really afford much. I'm a new rider and I want to get a bike around $4000. What would you recommend? and where would a good place be to look for one? Thanks

You might want to search around this site, 'cause there are LOTS of threads on this topic. Good luck.

Last year I sold a 96 CBR 600F3 for $4500, so you can probably find a good F3 (or definitely an F2) in your price range. These bikes are pretty comfy as far as sportbikes go, and of course, they're Hondas!

for $4k, you can find early to mid 90's sportbikes. of course, that depends on what part of the country you're in. if you want a newer model, look at the katanas, fzr's, and i know it's not a sportbike, but bandits. good luck!!

If your looking for a bigger bike, look for a 93 - 95 CBR 1000F, mileage in the 18 - 28K range...

Very solid handling bike, although it is heavy compared to todays open class bikes. Good all around power delivery, strong enough for two up riding just about anywhere...I used mine both for sport touring as well as more aggressive riding...

Don't forget about the Kawasaki zx6e. I got mine last year for $3200. It's a bit heavy compared to the newer 600s but it is very comfortable and I found it to be a good bike to learn on. Good luck with your search.
