Default f4i Buzzing Sound?

I bought a new f4i about a month ago. I've got a little over 1200 miles on it, and a few hundred miles ago, it started making a buzzing noise right around 5,600 rpms. Anyone else have the same problem, or know what it might be? I went around and tightened everything that was loose. Hopefully it's not the motor.

Problem with these new sportbikes with the inclosed fairings & beautiful dash, etc, compred to a skelton bike or a skelton bike with a shell like f/glass fairing (as we put on some bike in mid 70s till mid-80s) -------- is you cannot get at all the nuts & bolts. The very one making the buzzing sound could be on an inner part of the fairing you cannot get at unless you do a day or work in pulling it all apart ----- even then you might not spot it , for it could be something viberating, rubbing or tapping on another part. I simply let it go & feel in time I might spot it, it can go away, or I will have sold the bike by that time.

Malpractice, the F4i's are bad about the Cam Chain Tensioner (CCT) ratteling. No need for a second opinion on this, trust me Mine didn't start buzzing till out of waranty. I would take it back to the dealer and see what they say. Supposedly Honda has an improved part to replace the original CCT with. If you do a quick search in the Honda forum here you will find some have gone to other aftermarket tensioners. Do a search here also,

www.cbrworld.net

Probably only 150 or so post about the CCT there! Used to be a good link from a guy who changed his his self. Good luck.

Thumbs up

CAM CHAIN TENSIONER!! I concur. Mine started around 4800rpms. I bet it sounded like the key chain was rattling huh?

That should be under warranty!!!!

My '97 F3 used to buzz at around 5K RPM.. turned out to be my aftermarket smoked wind screen.. I fixed it by puting o-rings on the mirror bolts and wind screen screws

There is no question it is your Cam Chain Tensioner. Mine has been buzzing between 5-6K since less than 1000 miles. I now have 5000 miles and finally got it replaced under warranty while I was on vacation.

Call the dealer, tell them your problem. They know what it is too. Have them order the part (if they don't already have it is stock) and then take it in when they have the part. The change only takes like 2.5 hours of labor, it is a one day thing. Like I said, it was warrantied, so it cost me nothing but time w/o my bike!

My buzz is gone and it actually feels like the throttle response is more crisp now. Maybe it's just cause that annoying noise isn't there anymore...hmmmmm
